< ![CDATA[How to Make Your Own Tortillas - wikiHow
Ingredients
- 2 cups of flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 cup of water
Steps
- Put the flour into a medium size bowl. (You can use more to make a larger batch, just double the recipe.)
- Add the baking powder.
- Dissolve the salt in the water. Heat the water to almost boiling.
- Create a well (indentation) in the flour. Slowly add the water while stirring with a fork.
- Continue stirring with the fork until you can’t mix it anymore.
- Now take off all jewelry and start mixing/kneading the dough with your hands.
- Keep kneading until all of the flour is mixed in. The dough should be slightly sticky but not hard. You can add slightly more water or flour if needed.
- Now take a rolling pin and pull off a small portion of the dough (about the size of a golf ball).
- Place it on the counter where you have sprinkled flour. Roll it out until it is as thin as you can make it.
- Place the rolled tortilla on a hot griddle (without grease) and cook on one side until you see it bubble.
- Now flip to the other side and cook for a few seconds.
- Continue in this manner until all your dough is cooked.
